Low gas prices since the first of the year are going up

Gas prices have fallen almost a penny a day since the first of the year.  How long will it last?  Not long enough, according to AAA fuel analyst, Don Redman who says crude oil has jumped just in the last week and that'll force gas prices to go up as well.

"We're going to start seeing those prices at the pump increase, despite the fact that January and February are some of the best prices we'll see on the calendar." Redman said.    Prices at the pump had fallen about 12 cents a gallon over the past 3 weeks, but that is ending.

"In the short term we are going to see a steady increase," Redman said.

Redman does say while prices may rise, they'll stay under 2 dollars a gallon for Louisiana.  Right now we're at 1.96 a gallon.  In New Orleans we're paying 1.93 per gallon.

When spring rolls around and the demand goes up and so will the prices.

"In springtime we could see a jump as much as 50 cents to as much as we've had in the past, a dollar, but on the average, about a 50 cent increase," Redman added.
