
New Orleans Police have arrested a 21-year-old Loyola Universtiy student in connection with a series of sexual assaults reported in recent weeks.
Carlos Pena Cifuentes was booked into Orleans Parish prison on a sexual battery charge.
"At about 2:30 a.m., a female victim was sexually assaulted at The Boot Bar, located in the 1000 block of Broadway Street," said police in a statement. "Through investigation, NOPD detectives were able to positively identify Cifuentes as the perpetrator in this incident and obtain a warrant for his arrest on a charge of sexual battery."
Police say Cifuentes, originally from Madrid, Spain, was booked without incident.
NOPD says the investigation is active and ongoing, in cooperation with Loyola University Police and Tulane University Police departments. NOPD also noted the cooperation of the owners of The Boot in the investigation.
