LSU baseball has a season-high five-game losing streak after losing to Arkansas 11-6 on Friday night in Fayetteville.
The Tigers had a 3-0 lead after two innings after catcher Saul Garza hit a two-run homer. But LSU’s bats went away for several innings and Zack Hess couldn’t repeat the relief outing he had last week. Hess entered in the 5th inning with LSU leading 3-1 and he gave up three runs in two innings.
Arkansas put the game out of the reach when they scored six runs in the eighth. Those six runs came off of Trent Vietmeier, who ended up leaving the game with an apparent injury.
Eric Walker started for LSU and gave the Tigers a good effort. He pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs.
LSU has allowed 56 runs in the last four games.
It’s the first time Arkansas has won a series over LSU since the 2011 season. That year the Tigers didn’t make the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers will try to salvage a game in Arkansas on Saturday. The series finale is at 1 PM. Landon Marceaux will start for LSU. He’s 3-2 with a 7.04 ERA.
