The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today in the 10900 block of Willowbrae Drive and claimed the life of one victim.
It marks the first homicide of 2020.
NOPD Seventh District officers responded after 2 p.m. to the 1100 block of Kinneil Road to investigation a reported shooting. When cops arrived they discovered an adult male victim at the location with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to the hospital via EMS. Detectives determined the shooting incident occurred in the 10900 block of Willowbrae Drive, and that the victim had relocated to the Kinneil Road location after the shooting.
The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. No further details are available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
