The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office says a man was killed early Sunday in what appears to have been a drive-by shooting on the Bonnet Carre Spillway.
They found the victim dead in a shot-up, crashed car on I-10 West over the Bonnet Carre Spillway.
The westbound interstate over the Spillway was closed at I-310 South for several hours due to police activity at that location. Traffic was being diverted to I-310 South.
According to officials, first responders arrived at the scene about 3:20 a.m., and found a crashed 2006 silver Chrysler Sebring with several bullet holes in it. A man was found dead inside the car. Others were said to have been taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
After an investigation of the scene, the sheriff's office said evidence on the victim’s vehicle indicates that there may have been a collision with a possibly white colored vehicle.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for anyone with information as to a possible hit and run involving the victim’s vehicle today on I-10.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Jenni Barrette of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985)783-1135 or (985)783-6807.
The I-10 was reopened around 10 a.m.
