Early Tuesday morning a man walking on the entrance ramp to west I-10 was struck and killed by an allegedly impared driver.
The victim, 31-year-old Chad Hart of Covington, was struck by a 2004 Ford Expedition driven by 42-year-old Shane Crawford of Slidell. Hart sustained severe injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
Meanwhile, Crawford provided Troopers with a breath sample, which registered over the legal limit. Crawford was subsequently arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on a charge of Vehicular Homicide.
As part of the investigation, blood samples were collected for scientific analysis. St. Tammany Sheriff say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
