We've all heard the warnings, don't travel on Thanksgiving Eve. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is typically the single busiest travel day of the year. We checked with folks to find out if they are going out of town. What are these people planning?
"I am traveling to Budapest, I'm going to be there for four days and then I'm taking the train over to Prague," said this lady. "I'm leaving Thanksgiving Day, the rates are cheaper on Thanksgiving."
"Yes we are going to Florida, and we are driving," this lady said with her husband. "On the busy roads."
"We are traveling from Riverside, California," said another tourist. "We go back Thanksgiving."
"We're heading to North Louisiana today and expecting there will be traffic on the highways," one man told us.
"The traffic wasn't bad today at all," another lady said. "Everybody's already arrived, I think."
More than 50 million people expected to travel this thanksgiving holiday, a majority of them head out today.
When you compare the holidays the percentage of long distance travelers is higher than even the Christmas holidays.
