Marrero double shooting leaves one dead, another in critical condition

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting in Marrero that left one man dead and another in critical condition. It happened Wednesday about 11:15 a.m. according to a JPSO press release.

Sheriff Joe Lopinto says, “Deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash in the 2100 block of Rue Racine Drive. Deputies found that a Nissan Altima had crashed into a parked Hyundai Sonata that was parked along the curb. After making entry into the vehicle, deputies found the driver unresponsive. He was found to have at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene.”

Lopinto says the other victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. That victim is listed in critical condition.

Investigators believe the two men were involved in an exchange of gunfire in front of a home on Rue Racine in Marrero.
