
A hand grenade found as family members were clearing out a closet at a Broadmoore home, has been recovered by military bomb technicians early Wednesday morning.
The grenande was discovered as a deceased family member’s home was being cleaned. According to New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson, the pin came out but the grenade did not detonate.
The NOPD evacuated the entire 1800 block of South Gayoso as a precaution.
Chief Ferguson said on Tuesday, because it is a military-grade and in ‘poor condition’ military technicians from Fort Polk were called in to safely remove the grenade.
