Starting Monday morning, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has replaced his Stay Home order with a Safer at Home order.
"We have to begin reopening," Reeves insisted. "But, we have to do it in a way that is safe for all."
The new order still encourages everyone to stay home, but starts a slow reopening with gatherings still limited to 10 people all six feet apart.
The Safer at Home order allows retail businesses to reopen with 50 % capacity in Mississippi.
Restaurants and bars are still pick up and delivery only with casinos and entertainment businesses remaining closed.
"It is going to be cautious and it is going to be gradual," Reeves explained.
The Mississippi Governor says the lock down cannot continue forever.
"We can, however, do everything in our power to limit those instances where and order from the government prevents a Mississippian from providing for themselves. I have a fundamental issue with that. We are going to get out of that situation as quickly as we can in a safe, responsible way."
