The Aviation Board announced that the new North Terminal at Armstrong International Airport will indeed open this fall, despite the recent problems with plumbing that have plagued the airport.
The opening has been delayed 4 times since the original opening was scheduled in 2018.
The $1.026 billion project is seen as a major upgrade of the city’s facilities as large numbers of tourists continue to visit New Orleans for annual major events like Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Essence Fest and big sporting events like the 2020 College Football National Championship and the Super Bowl in 2024.
Aviation officials reported at the today that 88 percent of the plumbing has been repaired and inspected.
