The dream of the New Beginnings Schools Foundation became a nightmare... ...and has now come to an end.  The board of the embattled foundation voted last night to surrender all of the school charters effective at the end of next school year.

Media partner WWL-TV says John F. Kennedy High School and Pierre A. Capdau Charter School will shut down.

Kennedy High School has been at the center of a grade fixing scandal where student grades and achievements were inflated to inprove the school's student performance and graduation numbers.

The grade fixing was exposed when New Beginnings own technology officer went public after being fired.  In the aftermath five school administrators, including the principal and two assistant principals were canned.

Things went from bad to worse when it was learned upward of one-half of the graduating class were informed they were not eligible to graduated due to their lowered grades and had to return to summer school if they wanted to earn their diplomas.

NOLA Public Schools has said they will work to find a new charter operator for the schools to take over when New Beginnings charters end after New Beginnings exits the property.
