The recruits of New Orleans Police Academy class number 188 officially graduated Friday.
The 19 new members of the NOPD were sworn in on Friday.
They received their assignments and hit the quiet streets of the City.
The newly minted officers represent a diverse class.
Among today's graduates, 14 have college degrees, four are military veterans, eight are from Louisiana while the rest are from eight other states, and one recruit even from Germany.
It’s a unique challenge for this new blue line of recruits; with New Orleans in the grip of the coronavirus epidemic and streets looking more abandoned than active.
Despite the challenges the city faces while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, the NOPD continues to move forward with efforts to keep New Orleans safe.
