Quality of life in New Orleans, everything from potholes to blighted property, are now being tackled by a new city council committee, which holds its first meeting today.

When it comes to the homeless situation,  the committee will get an update from the Cantrell administration on policies for removing homeless encampments, and what services are need to keep them from popping up again.

"You've got to look at shelter. You have to look at services," Giarrusso told WWL's Tommy Tucker. "When the city does sweeps...what is being captured? What information is being captured, what data is being collected, what photographs are being taken, what is being done to document what is happening."

Giarrusso says that information can help them and the administration craft more-effective policies to make life in the city more desirable.

The Quality of Life Committee meets at 10 a.m. at the council meeting chamber in city hall.
