Avegno said many areas are running into logjams getting tests processed. There are enough testing kits, but the issues, she said, are happening down the line.
"What the issue is the big machines that are being used to run a lot of our community-based testing sites, they need supplies and materials as well to run the machines," Avegno said.
The doctor said city leaders have appealed to the Louisiana congressional delegation to find ways to help.
Avegno said New Orleans is still testing enough people to exceed the minimum recommended by the CDC, but the always want to do more.
