New Orleans health director: Lifting 'Stay at Home' doesn't mean go visit everyone

New Orleans lifted its Stay-at-Home order Saturday. Non-essential businesses can now open, with a limit of 25 percent of their maximum occupancy.

New Orleans health director Dr. Jennifer Avegno says entering phase one doesn't mean getting together with old friends.

"Just because you can go to a restaurant with a few people does not mean it should be different people every day," said Dr. Avegno.

Dr. Avegno said a lot of the things we've been doing during the pandemic, we need to keep doing.

"Everyone must continue to practice social distancing: at least six feet apart," she said. "Everyone must wear a face covering when they are going into businesses and places of work."

Masks, said Avegno, aren't to protect the wearer so much as they are to protect other people from the wearer, because people can have COVID-19 and be contagious for days or even weeks before they know they have it.
