
A New Orleans Police Officer was shot in Mid-City Thursday night.
The officer was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital by ambulance, according to New Orleans Police Department officials.
A New Orleans EMS spokesperson says the officer's wounds do not appear life threatening.
The shooting occurred near Jefferson Davis Parkway in the 3300 block of Tulane Avenue.
More than a dozen NOPD and state police vehicles converged on the area, just blocks from University Medical Center.
Police taped off a Shell gas station, where officers were gathered inside and near the front door.
No other details were immediately available.
