The much anticipated debut of the Riverboat Louis Armstrong has arrived.
Over the next three weekends the huge vessel will dock at 1 Poydras Street behind the Riverwalk to open its doors to the public for a free preview of its four decks of dining, cocktail, and entertainment space.
Saturday's events are between 5-and-10pm will feature a concert by the Free Agents Jazz Band. On December 21st, John Lisi and Delta Funk will play and on December 28, its Tom Worrell.
The riverboat features a special space, the Foundation Room, which features a number of displays of memorabilia about the boat's namesake, Louis Armstrong.
Primarily a convention, charter and entertainment venue boat, the Louis Armstrong has capacity for up to 3,000 guests.
There's plenty of room for concerts, conventions, weddings and private parties.
In service, the boat will embark on "Louis Armstrong Gospel jazz brunch" sailings on Sundays and "Jazzin' on the River" as a series of late night and moonlight cruises featuring live music.
