The New Orleans Office of Inspector General is asking the New Orleans City Council to give up on holding hearings into the Hard Rock Hotel construction site collapse, the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports.

In a letter to the council, the inspector general said council hearings will interfere with other ongoing investigations, although it didn't specify how.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has also opposed council hearings into the collapse.

The council is scheduled to meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss the Hard Rock collapse.
