The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the apparent Saturday night shooting death of a 38-year-old male in Gentilly.
The shooting took place at approximately 11:30 p.m., in the 3400 block of Franklin Avenue.
Third District officers responding to a call of “shots fired” found the victim lying on the ground in the parking lot of a Shell gas station at the intersection of Sage Street and Franklin Avenue.
Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and pronounce the victim dead.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause death.
Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved in this incident, as well as a motive.
