Ochsner will pay for medical school for 30 prospective doctors if they commit to going to work for the healthcare giant after they graduate.
In return for picking up the tab for their education Ochsner says they want a five-year commitment to working for them.
Ochsner CEO Warner Thomas made the announcement Wednesday at a Rotary Club meeting in Baton Rouge.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate Ochsner is looking for students studying to be primary care physicians and psychiatrists.
Ochsner will likely expand the offer to include current employees like medical assistants who want to move up to being a licensed practical nurse or LPNs who want to become registered nurses.
Thomas says Ochsner is setting aside upwards of $10-million to fund the tuitions.
The Ochsner Health System treats nearly 900,000 patients across Louisiana with a workforce of over 26,000.
