Pelicans, Jazz planning joint protest ahead of opener, report says

The New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz are set to kick off the NBA’s restart with a 5:30 p.m. matchup Thursday. According to a report from ESPN’s Malika Andrews, both teams are planning to unite prior to the game for a protest.

The report says players from both teams could potentially kneel around the Black Lives Matter signage on the Wide World of Sports arena court during the the national anthem.


Pelicans players have been very vocal about advocating for social justice with nearly every player opting to place a phrase or slogan on their respective jersey in addition to raising awareness for causes during the media availabilities.
