At a meeting of the Louisiana House Education committee, the plan to start high school football games during the pandemic took a step forward.
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association announced it plans to allow high schools to play football beginning on Thursday, October 8th.
The committee chairman said all sides are in agreement on the plan.
"I want to thank all of the people who helped us to work out the kumbaya moment today," Representative Ray Garofalo said.
The LHSAA board still has to approve the plan.
Garofalo says they hope to be able to allow fans in the stands at 50 percent capacity:
"That number is not set in stone, and it is still being looked at... that is still in flux, and that is not definite."
