New Orleans Police officers have arrested a 54-year-old man in Friday's shooting of a daiquiri shop employee on Bourbon Street.

Jail records show Christopher Doty was booked shortly before 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

According to The New Orleans Advocate, Doty had been banned from Mango Mango Daiquiris at 201 Bourbon St. When Doty reportedly went in to the shop yesterday, an employee asked him to leave. Police say that's when he pulled a gun from his backpack and shot her.

The 32-year-old woman was wounded in the abdomen. New Orleans EMTs took her to the hospital, but police officials said they do not believe the injury is life-threatening.

Doty is wanted for aggravated battery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and being in possession of a firearm in an alcoholic beverage outlet.

Doty, according to The Advocate, has had run-ins with the law before, being arrested for a 2017 stabbing in the French Quarter. Despite being booked on charges of attempted murder and resisting arrest, the district attorney's office did not prosecute the case.

Doty also reportedly served three years of a 12-year sentence on a manslaughter conviction in 1992. The conviction was overturned on appeal.
