New Orleans Police officials say they are investigating an incident in New Orleans East where an officer reported being in mortal danger. It happened in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany Boulevard off of Lake Forest.
Police say no officers were injured, but one suspect is dead.
Around 10 a.m., police were called to investigate and aggravated assault at 6681 Parc Brittany Blvd., according to Superintendent Shaun Ferguson.
"Upon their arrival, they encountered and individual armed with a weapon, at which time shots were fired," said Ferguson. "the individual that was armed with the weapon sustained multiple gunshot wounds and expired on-scene.”
Ferguson said three officers fired their weapons. Investigators are trying to determine who fired first, and other circumstances surrounding the incident.
The chief said the federal consent decree monitor and the independent police monitor came to the scene.
