As quickly as it reopened to serve customers hungry for their signature 1/2-pound cheeseburgers, loaded baked potatoes, and tropical Monsoon cocktails, Port of Call on Esplanade Ave. closed.

Closed since March, the popular eatery on the edge of the French Quarter just reopened for take-out service. However, the reopening happened just hours after New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's ban on to-go alcohol sales took effect, removing Monsoons and other alcoholic beverages from the menu.
Cantrell said a large portion of the recent rise in coronavirus infections have been traced to bars, and as recently as last weekend, crowds of people were roaming Bourbon Street, many not in masks, and making little effort to stay six feet apart.
