
The survey found that positive tests for marijuana have been rising steadily over the last five years. That's around the time the first statewide legalization went into effect in Colorado. UNO business professor Mark Rosa says this isn't going to get easier for businesses to manage.
"Absolutely, it makes for a thorny environment and an HR nightmare," said Rosa.
Rosa says companies will have to decide how they want to treat employees who may be doing something legal where on office is, but against the law elsewhere.
"From an HR standpoint, how do you deal with it, especially if you're company is big enough that you have offices in many different jurisdictions?" asked Rosa. "So I think that's going to be a challenge going forward."
