Allie Guidry was pregnant, with her child not expected until October, when she contracted COVID-19 and was placed on a ventilator in May at a Baton Rouge hospital.
Guidry died of complications from the infection, but doctors were able to save her unborn child, delivering the baby some four months early.
Family members told WBRZ-TV the doctors at Women’s Hospital were able to deliver the child before she passed.
The child is reportedly in stable condition and the family is asking for prayers for the pre-mature baby’s survival.
