CBS News reports that President Donald Trump will speak from the White House Rose Garden this afternoon about a short-term bill to reopen the federal government.
Details on how much this continuing resolution would fund a border wall aren't known, but The Washington Post reports the president and congressional leaders have agreed to leave border wall funding out.
The border security debate will continue during the three-week extension. The move is designed to take the stress off the system and assure federal workers of pay.
The government shutdown is now in its 35th day.
