Initially, property tax payments are due by January 31.  But the cyber attack disrupted the payment system so completely the City told residents to pay their tax by mail or in person.  All online payments were curtailed after the December 13 attack that took all City computers offline.

New Orleans IT personnel have had to re-image over 3,400 computers and almost 500 servers maintained by the municipality.

According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, in person payments are always encouraged to pay early and not wait for the deadline day, that way they are assured of getting their payment processed in a timely fashion.

Meanwhile, nearly half of property owners have their taxes filed by their mortgage holders.
