Rare summer cold front to bring less humid air to Louisiana

We get a brief break from our typical summer weather this week.

"A rare July cold front will move through on Tuesday," according to WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum.  "The cold front will move toward the coast on Tuesday night."

He says before we get the less humid air from the front, there will be some storms.

"We will have plenty of thunderstorms with heavy rain. Watch out for some street flooding issues."

Nussbaum says after some lingering morning showers, we get the payoff Wednesday. It continues Thursday.

"We will see a very welcome drop in the humidity... Each day will be mostly sunny and warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s."

He adds that it will actually feel like the upper 80s, rather than 100 to 105... like we expect in the summer.

It will be cooler in the morning too.

"Lows will fall to the 60s north and lower 70s south."

TODAY:Mostly cloudy, warm and humid with a 60% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Heavy rain likely. Highs around 87 feeling like 95-100. Wind SW 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT:Mostly cloudy and mild with a 30% chance for a few showers and thunderstorms. Lows around 77. Wind W/SW 5-10 mph.

TUESDAY:Mostly cloudy, warm and humid with an 80% chance for showers and thunderstorms. Heavy rain likely. Highs around 85. Wind SW/NW 5-10 mph.

WEDNESDAY:Becoming partly cloudy, warm and a bit less humid with a 20% chance for showers. Lows around 73. Highs around 87.

THURSDAY:Mostly sunny, warm and less humid with a 10% chance for a stray shower. Lows around 73. Highs around 89.

FRIDAY:Partly cloudy, hot and more humid with a 30% chance for spotty showers and thunderstorms. Lows around 75. Highs around 91.

SATURDAY:Partly cloudy, hot and humid with a 50% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows around 76. Highs around 90.
