Jefferson Parish councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng is planning a run for parish president, according to WWL_TV.
The TV station reports Lee-Sheng has invited supporters to a formal announcement scheduled for next month. Lee-Sheng has been a member of the parish council since 2009, first as the District 5 councilmember, then as an at-large member.
Incumbent parish president Mike Yenni has not announced whether he is running for reelection. Yenni has kept a relatively low profile since allegations of a sexting scandal involving a teenage boy surfaced in 2016.
The election is October 12.
