Report: Police picked up 7 juveniles on curfew violations Monday

New Orleans Police offficers picked up seven juveniles for curfew violation on Monday night, reports WWL-TV.

Monday night was the first night of summer curfew enforcement. Violators will be brought to Covenant House on N. Rampart St. if police cannot contact the violators' parents or guardians. WWL-TV reports none of the seven picked up Monday were brought to Covenant House.

"The summer hours for curfew, June 1st to August 31st, Sunday through Thursday, curfew hours are 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.," said New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson. "Friday and Saturday, 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m."

In the French Quarter, curfew hours are 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. seven days a week.

Children under 10 years of age will be taken into protective custody while police attempt to locate their parents or guardians.

If a child is caught three times or more violating curfew, the city says there will be repercussions for the parents.
