During the Saints 34-23 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, FOX reporter Erin Andrews reported that the Saints signed linebacker Demario Davis to a three-year contract extension.
Davis said he's "blessed" to receive the extension from New Orleans.
"In 2016, I was back in Cleveland. I was contemplating retirement," Davis said. "I prayed like 'God, if you’re not done with me, use me. Rejuvenate my mind, rejuvenate my body' and he did that," said Davis.
"Since then I was able to go to New York, be successful, get a contract here and now I get an extension."
Davis, who's tallied at least 110 tackles in both of seasons with the Saints, said he enjoys the culture and community in New Orleans and was glad the team and his agency were able to negociate an extension. He said the team had been quietly working on the deal leading up to Sunday’s game.
"They say real Gs move in silence like lasagna," Davis said with a laugh.
