Saints go west, stay there

The Saints head west today for their big NFC Championship Game re-match with the Los Angeles Rams. A week later, they’ve got another west coast game at Seattle.

Coach Sean Payton wants to make sure they’re prepared, so he’s decided to keep the team out west all week. After the Rams game, they’ll head up to Seattle and prepare for the Seahawks at the University of Washington.

“I think it’s good that they’re going up to Seattle,” said former New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Mora. “They’ve got a good situation at the University of Washington, good facilities.”

Mora said the two best teams in the NFC right now are probably Los Angeles and New Orleans, and Sunday’s game will be tough.

“Both the head coaches call the plays. They both have two great quarterbacks, one young, one little older,” said Mora.

And having that followed up with another game against at a tough NFC West opponent just a week later is a true test.

“Both these games against two of the best teams in the NFC for sure, and both on the road,” Mora said. “I think rather than fly out there, fly back, fly back out there again, I think what they’re doing is a smart thing to do.”
