The New Orleans Saints placed punter Blake Gillikan on injured reserve and signed rookie defensive end Marcus Willoughby to the practice squad, according to the league's official transaction report.
Gillikan, an undrafted rookie out of Penn State, made the Saints initial 53-man roster despite the Saints retaining longtime punter Thomas Morstead. Gillikan however did not practice Wednesday listed on the injury report due to a back injury.
Willoughby joins the Saints practice squad after spending training camp with the Baltimore Ravens. The rookie out of Elon was a second team All-CAA player for the Phoenix after posting 65 tackles, 13.5 for a loss, 7.0 sacks, three quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles as a senior.
