New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees says NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell pretty much waited until he had no other choice to address the NFC Championship Game non-call, when he probably should have spoken up sooner.

In an interview on NBC's The Today Show, Brees told Hoda Kotb, "I think it would have been nice if he'd come out on Monday or Tuesday after the game and addressed it immediately. I think he waited until he absolutely had to, which was at his annual Super Bowl press conference. I don't really think he said much during most of that press conference."

As for the game itself, Brees said the loss was heart-breaking, but he and his teammates can only worry about what they control.

"We would have liked for that call to have been made, but it wasn't." said Brees. "There's a lot of calls that are made and not made throughout the course of the game, it's just tough when something that meaningful happens at the end of the NFC Championship game and arguably would have sent us to the Super Bowl and the call wasn't made."

In Atlanta for the festivities surrounding Super Bowl LIII, Brees said he has already put his focus on winning the NFC in 2019.

"As we think about and look forward to next season, I love our team and I love the opportunity we have. I think we have the best fans in the country and all of sports," Brees added. "I think their passion and emotion was certainly felt after that game over the last week-and-a-half."

Today Show news anchor Savannah Guthrie asked Brees if he had a prediction for the game -- Brees said, "I do, but I'm going to keep that to myself."

"We don't care, do we, Drew?" Kotb interjected.

To which Brees laughed, "we don't care!"
