Court records now show that both suspects in the attempted murder of three NOPD officers were deemed the lowest risk on an assessment tool used by the New Orleans courts.

The two men allegedly went to the CVS on Prytania Street with guns, gloves and hoods to tie up the employees and rob the drug store of medications and money.

Police say when they tried to get away, they fired at three uniformed officers... striking one in the shoulder.

The assessment tool looks at an offenders past criminal record, arrests, convictions, jail time and other factors.

Documents show Alan Parson has never been convicted of a crime.  The 18-year-old has never missed any court dates.

As a result the intake specialist ranked him a one on the risk scale.

His alleged accomplice, 26-year-old Richard Sansbury, was also ranked as the lowest risk to the community after allegedly shooting a cop, trying to shoot two others, tying up employees and committing an armed robbery.

He has no felony convictions, never missed a court date and has never been sent to jail.  He does have at least one prior misdemeanor conviction.

This has drawn outcry from the Metro Crime Commission watchdog group, the district attorney and former Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand (now a WWL talk show host).
