September will end hot and dry

We'll end the month of September and start the work week still hot and likely one of the driest on record.

"A ridge of high pressure keeps things hot and mainly dry this week," said WWL-TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford.  "Expect high temperatures in the low 90s and only slight chances for a few stray showers each day."

A weak cool front should happen by the weekend and we'll see less humidity and a slight break in the temperatures.

The tropics are only seeing one active storm at the moment and that is Hurricane Lorenzo which has weakened on Sunday back to a Category 3 storm. It is not a threat to the US, but it will near the Azores with at least some gusty winds on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
