The state of Louisiana is leasing room at the Sheraton New Orleans as another coronavirus overflow medical facility.
As hospitals fill with COVID-19 patients, authorities are creating additional spaces for sick people.
He tells The Times Picayune / The New Orleans Advocate, "We've reached agreement with the Sheraton on the terms of using it, but we won’t turn (the contract) on until we start to occupy it... Basically, we're holding up on anything that would spend money until we know how many spaces we'll need."
The plan reportedly calls for setting up 25 patient rooms and a nursing station on each floor they convert.
This is all in addition to the 1,000 beds set to open at the Morial Convention Center tomorrow, with 1,000 more to be added there in the coming days.
