LSU advised students of a shooting near the Baton Rouge campus Monday night.

"Reported shots fired near W. Chimes St. and Geranium St. Stay away from the area. BRPD and LSUPD on scene," an alert sent to students read. "If in the area, lock yourself in a secure room."

The Baton Rouge Advocate reported that a police officer was injured after responding to a domestic disturbance.

He was reportedly shot in the leg.

Baton Rouge police Sgt. L'Jean McKneely said the officer's injuries were not life threatening.

McKneely says they have one man in custody who they think shot the officer.

Dozens of other police responded, including SWAT.

It happened across the street from a popular restaurant with students, La Salvadorena.

LSU later told students, "LSUPD: Police have determined that the incident at W Chimes St and Geranium St is no longer a threat."
