Site crashes for front line workers to apply for $250

The Louisiana Department of Revenue reported computer problems on this last day to file income taxes and first day to apply for the coronavirus $250 essential worker payments.

A news release says, "The state Office of Technology Services has all hands on deck working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible."

Officials say the department accepted more than 14,000 applications for the payments before the site went down.

People were complaining it was hard to get in and file even before that.

"I did it for four hours, four hours!" one frustrated applicant told WWL First News.  "I started at 12:01 last night."

He said they system would let him get part of the way through the process and them shut down.

"It forced me to start all over again."

He says after multiple attempts, he went to sleep.

"At five minutes to four o' clock this morning, I gave up with no results."

He woke up to find out the site was completely down.

The state is accepting applications until October, or until the money runs out.

The news release says, "Bandwidth and servers were configured to handle the high volume of applications anticipated, however a separate network connectivity issue has affected all applications on the Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point portal, including the frontline workers application, Louisiana File Online, and other tax management applications."
