A Slidell man is in jail after he had to be rescued from a storm drain under I-10, where he tried to hide from the cops after refusing to pull over on his motorcycle.

According to police, an officer tried to pull over 27-year-old Charles Mizell after observing the motorcycle speeding away from a local WalMart. Cops say the biker refused to stop and attempted to flee on I-10, but crashed into a ditch near Old Spanish Trail.

"After the crash, Mizell climbed into a large storm drain which ran underneath Interstate 10, but ultimately got stuck," said police. "It took nearly two hours for officers to rescue Mizell from the drainage pipe."

Police say Mizell needed to go to the hospital, but was then booked into Slidell City Jail on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, reckless operation and no insurance, among other charges. Police are also investigating Mizell as a possible suspect in a shoplifting incident at the WalMart.
