Old Man Winter sent one more frosty blast to Southeast Louisiana today before spring starts this evening.
Morning lows were in the 30s across the Northshore with frost reported in many locations. South of the lake the morning started with 40s and 50s.
"Spring officially begins at 4:58pm today," WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum told us. "It will be cool to mild with highs in the upper 60s."
He says we will see a warm up each day this week.
"The first full day of spring, Thursday, will be very pleasant," Nussbaum explained. "Expect full sun and highs around 70°."
He forecasts a stretch of beautiful, sunny weather will continue on Friday with highs in the lower 70s.
Weekend Forecast: The area of high pressure will slide east of Louisiana, but our great weather will continue all weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy and mild with highs in the mid 70s each day. This means we will have perfect weather for the Italian-American parade on Saturday at 6 PM in the French Quarter with temperatures falling from the 70s to the 60s. Then on Sunday it will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the lower 70s at Noon for the Irish-Italian parade in Metairie. Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen!
