St. Tammany Parish swears in its new government today.

The new parish president and 14 parish council members, along with other parish-wide elected officials take their oaths of office.

"Ceremonies are open to the public and they begin at noon," said St. Tammany spokeswoman Amy Bouton.

Weather forced them to move it from the justice center in downtown Covington to Fuhrmann Auditorium on West 23rd in Covington.

Former Covington Mayor Mark Cooper bested two term incumbent Pat Brister in the runoff election, as voter denied her bid for a third term, after rejecting tax renewals on several recent ballots.
