The Louisiana Department of Revenue says taxpayers will get an extra two days to file their tax returns, after many residents had trouble accessing the department's web site today. Today also happens to be the first day essential workers during the stay at home phase can apply for 250 dollar grants -- applications that are being handled by LDR.

"A state computer network connectivity problem has slowed down or made inaccessible several LDR web applications including the income tax filing application Louisiana File Online and the business tax management portal Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point," the department said in a news release.

State tax returns are now due Friday, July 17. Federal tax returns (or an application for an extension) are due today.
