Stock streak continues, as does oil surge

Wall Street’s winning streak now stands at four sessions. Today, the Dow Industrials gained 91 points while the Nasdaq rose 60.

U-S oil prices surged today, notching their eighth-straight advance and highest finish since mid-December. Giving oil a lift: a decline in weekly U-S crude inventories and more signs of progress in U.S.-China trade talks. February crude soared $2.58, or 5.2%, to settle at $52.36 a barrel.   It was battered recently, but shares of drilling rig owner and operator Nabors Industries rallied 13½ percent today. The company’s quarterly earnings report showed significant debt reduction and a dividend cut.

Candy sold by a Kentucky company and QVC is being voluntarily recalled on fears it might be contaminated with Hepatitis A. The FDA says the recall concerns Bauer’s Candies' “Famous Modjeskas,” individually-wrapped marshmallow candies dipped in chocolate or caramel.
