Stocks finished in the red today amid doubts about a U.S.-China trade truce and another decline in Midwest manufacturing activity.

The Dow Industrials dropped 140 points, the Nasdaq Composite fell 11, and the S&P 500 eased 9 points.

A big decliner:  Etsy tumbled nearly 16%. The online retailer posted in-line quarterly earnings but its gross margins were disappointing.

Oil prices fell again today on continued worries about oversupply. December crude dropped 88 cents, or 1.6%, to settle at $54.18 a barrel.

Louisiana-based Nate D. Sanders Auctions has listed the Valentino periwinkle dress worn by Lady Gaga at this year’s Golden Globes.  It’s estimated the dress will sell for between $20,000 and $40,000 - if it goes through.
