Stocks finished mixed today, with blue chips losing ground again. The Dow Industrials fell 63 points, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 9 and the S&P edged up 2 points. March crude oil settled 8 cents higher at $52.72 a barrel, but the contract declined 4.6% for the week.
Various reports today say Payless Shoesource is preparing for its second bankruptcy and that it could happen in the next two weeks. Citing a person familiar with the situation, CNBC reports that if the retailer fails to find buyers for its real estate, it may lead to Payless closing a majority of its 2,700 North American stores.
