Stocks finished mostly higher today, with the Dow Jones Industrials faring better than the other indexes.
The blue-chip gauge rose 166 points and the S&P 500 edged up 6. But the Nasdaq Composite slipped 3 points.
U-S oil prices eased for a second-straight day. May crude fell 36 cents to settle at $62.10 a barrel.
It has closed hundreds of stores in recent years, but Sears next month will open three smaller stores that will focus on tools, appliances and lawn & garden equipment -- one of them over in Lafayette. The new stores, called Sears Home & Life, will be about a tenth of the size of a typical Sears department store.
For whatever reason, a lot of high-priced homes are put on the market every spring. That’s the case again this year, and – citing data from realtor.com – USA TODAY says the median asking price for a home hit $300,000 for the first time ever in March.
